The TrainNew

Get on, stay on. One double bogey and it’s back to the platform.

How it works

Everyone starts off the Train. Make a par or better and you’re on, though that hole scores nothing. Or make two bogeys in a row: that gets you on too, and the second bogey scores a point.

Once you’re on, every hole pays: bogey 1, par 2, birdie 4, eagle 6, albatross 8. Bogeys in a row are fine. Make a double bogey or worse and you’re off the Train, every point you had is gone, and you start again from the platform. Twenty points on the 16th means nothing until you’ve finished the 18th.

Most points after 18 wins. Everyone else pays the winner the difference at the agreed rate. There’s nothing to tap: the scores decide who’s on, the board shows everyone’s points, and the detail card marks where each player boarded and where they derailed.

FAQ

What if two players tie for the most points?+

They’re co-winners. Everyone else pays the difference once, and the co-winners split it. They don’t pay each other.

Does a birdie that gets me on the Train score?+

No. The hole that gets you on scores nothing, par or birdie. The exception is two bogeys in a row: the second one gets you on and scores a point.

What does a pickup count?+

Net double bogey, so a pickup while you’re on the Train knocks you off.

Can eight of us play one Train across two groups?+

Yes. Each group’s scorer enters their own players, and the one game ranks and settles the whole field.
